Age 91, died peacefully at the Heartland Hospice House on Sunday morning December 6, 2009.
Violet retired from Continental Can Company after 29 years of service as a Personnel Manager.
She enjoyed spending winters for over 30 years in Panama City, Florida. "Vi" was an avid poker player and always enjoyed the Saturday night games.
Violet was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Lillian M. (Russell) Clayton. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Maloney and Olive Twilley. "Vi" is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years Robert Burns; her nieces, Susan Whittle, Judy Sansone, Carol Pierce, Jacque Hershour; her nephew, Tom Twilley; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Chapel on Wednesday morning, December 9th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.
