Obituary

Virginia Mitchell Marinelli

Age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013, with her loving family at her side.

Jinny was born in Seaford, DE, and was the loving daughter of Ruth and Oscar Mitchell. She was a proud graduate of Seaford High School and remained loyal to her roots throughout her life.

It was in Seaford where she met the love of her life, Frank Marinelli. After their wedding, they moved to Elsmere, DE, and started their family which included nine children. Jinny always wanted many children, as she told her children many times that as an only child, she was envious of those with siblings.

Jinny was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, whose wit, wisdom, and cooking skills will be greatly missed. She relished her role as a Mom and spent countless days and evenings cooking and entertaining her many friends and family. She has passed along to her family her gift of giving, caring, and responsibility that made her such a special Mom.

She also enjoyed singing for the Wilmington Opera Society and making more good friends.

Jinny was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Marinelli, Sr., and her children, Gerard and Cheryl. She is survived by her children, Theresa Matthews, Frank Marinelli, Jr., and his wife, Debbie, Mary Marinelli, Patty Hall, Dennis Marinelli, Sr., Ruth Graziano, and Philip Marinelli, Sr., and his wife, Mary Therese.

She was the proud Grammy and Mimi to Joanna Doroh, and her husband, Bill, Frank Marinelli, III, and his wife, Rachael, Gail Marinelli, Michael Matthews, Dennis Marinelli, Jr., and his wife, Hillary, Laura Zerbato, and her husband, David, Bridget Matthews, Katie Marinelli, Philip Marinelli, Jr., Rosanna Marinelli, Sara Marinelli, and Patrick Marinelli.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE, on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11 am. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-11 am. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Newark, DE.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Benedictine School, 14299 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660.
