Wayne J. Manning

Age 52, went home to be with the Lord peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Rockland Place.

Wayne was a Registered Respiratory Therapist and a Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist at Nemours A. I. DuPont Hospital for Children. For over 30 years and during the past 15 years at the A. I. Hospital Wayne was a dedicated loyal and committed member of the Critical Care Team.

Wayne was an avid naturalist. He enjoyed kayaking, birding, and fishing. He loved reading and music. He was also a professionally trained pastry chef.

Wayne's family would like to thank the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice, Elder Care, Rockland Place, and the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center/CCHS, and his extensive network of friends.

Wayne was the son of the late Clifford J. Manning. He is survived by his mother, Marian Manning of Elsmere; sisters, Kathleen Lewis and her husband Mark of Wilmington, and Kimberly Drevas of Bear; brother, Michael Manning and his wife Nancy of Bear; nieces, Amanda and Ashley Lewis, Kristin and Jessica Drevas, and Caitlyn Manning; great niece, Madison Foster; and his beloved dog, Jimi.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Elsmere Presbyterian Church, 606 New Rd., Elsmere, on Tuesday, August 25th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere Monday evening, August 24th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
