Obituary

Willard E. Duncan

Age 90, of Smyrna, DE, formerly of Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington, DE passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2009.

Willard was born in Peck, VA on August 6, 1918, the second of six siblings. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He served in the Army in WWII and was a Past Grand Master of Delaware Odd Fellows Lodge #1. For many years he was part-owner of Duncan and Reynolds at 40th and Washington Sts. in Wilmington. After moving to Rehoboth Beach in 1985, he worked for Sea Colony in Bethany Beach and K-Mart in Rehoboth, when it originally opened. He was a greeter at K-Mart and would always greet you with a smile and "Good Morning".

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Eleanor in 1994 and daughter Gwen Buxton in 1990. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Duncan of Wilmington; daughter, Gail Hicken (Elbie) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; two grandsons, Charles and Timothy; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, DuPont Pkwy., New Castle on Monday, June 1st at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday morning. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
