William O. Meek
Age 83 of Wilmington

Mr. William Meek was Born February 9, 1941 to Elizabeth and Jefferson Meek in York County South Carolina. He had eleven brothers and sisters, seven children, sixteen grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

William received his education at Rosevelt High School in York County SC. Once he graduated from Highschool in 1959 he enlisted in the U.S. Marines to serve his country. He would go on to retire from the Marines in 1969.

William worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years. William met the love of his life Silsteen Shields in 1986. The couple was together 8 years before they got married on March 5th, 1994.

Mr. Meek was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Elizabeth Meek. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, David, Earnest, Jefferson Jr., and Alexander, and his sisters, Sedonia Brown, Joan Nixon, Mary Hollinger, Addie Mae Brown, and C.D. Huggins.

He leaves behind his cherished memories to his wife of 30 years, Silsteen Meek; his sisters, Flora Armstrong, Alma Meek, and Amanda Anderson; his in-laws, Helen Fennell, Jerome Shields(Sue), Johnny Shields, Richard Shields, Michael Shields, and Willie Shields(flora); his seven children, Mark Meek(Monica), Rico Meek, William Meek, Gaila Woods, Rene Butler(Mark), Rosalee Shields, Levitha Shields and Tameeka Shields-Williams, his 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Mr. Meek at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805 on Friday, Jul 26 from 10:00am-11:00am. A Service of Remembrance will take place at 11:00am. Burial will take place at a later time at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
