William J. Rodick
Age 70, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness on Thursday, May 28, 2009.
Bill was a Teamster and truck driver for over 40 years. He spent over 22 years with the Huber's/Sunbeam Bakery. After the closing of the bakery, Bill spent over 21 years with A. H. Angerstein's in Elsmere.
Bill was a life member of the Elsmere Volunteer Fire Co. #1. He held many offices over his 40 year career of loyal and selfless service including the office of President, Director, Junior Advisor, and Training Officer. He was a fixture as an active firefighter, driver, and operator of all the apparatus.
He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed all the games of chance. He was well known for his jokes and stories. Above all, Bill's greatest love was his family.
Bill was the son of the late Harry and Catherine (Lux) Rodick. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary (Gowen) Rodick; his children, William J. Rodick Jr., and his wife, Gina, Carole J. Fontello, and her husband, Jim, James E. Rodick, and his wife, Kelly, Deborah L. Walker, and her husband, Dave, Michael W. Rodick, and his wife, Sue, and Robert J. Rodick, and his wife Jen; his sister, Carole Strazzella; his beloved grandchildren, Stephanie, Ranae, Rachel, Kim, Billy, Brandon, Lance, Jenn, Ryan, Jimmy, Alexa, Dave, Nikki, Mike, Christina, Ashley, Amber, and Heather; his great grandchildren, Andrew, Taylor, Cameron, Brianna, Gage, Aliviana, Laina, and Ariana; and his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Elsmere Vol. Fire Co., Rambo Mem. Hall on Wednesday, June 3rd at 10 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Tuesday evening June 2nd from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment in Gracelawn Memorial Park, duPont Pkwy., New Castle, DE.
