Age 70, of Old New Castle, passed away peacefully September 11, 2018, at Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital.
The daughter of the late John Vincent and Dorothy S. (Hall) Ryan, Ann was born July 5, 1948. She attended St. Peter School in New Castle from first grade through high school. She was awarded a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Delaware. She taught primary grade students in both public and private schools for 30 years, including St. Peter Parish School in New Castle.
Ann’s great loves were her family and her students. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, and spending time at the beach and she was proud of her Irish roots. She was a longtime member of the choir at St. Peter's Church and a lector at Mass.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Gwendolyn (1928), Paul (2007), and Elaine (2015). Ann is survived by her former spouse and father of her 6 children, Garry Jaunal, Esq.; her 6 children, Nicole (Kevin) Jackson, Aimee Jaunal, USMC Captain Gregory Jaunal (Misty), Margaux Jaunal (Marco Kristen), Andrea (Brian) Baker, and Jacquelyn Jaunal; her 5 grandchildren, Maddie, Jack, Shelby, Cooper, and Gavin; her siblings, Dr. John Ryan (Barbara), Dr. Michael Ryan (Anne Marie), and Patrick Ryan; and many nieces and nephews.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Christiana Hospital. The family would like to also thank the staff at Seasons Hospice, especially Cassandra Baker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 5th and Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720 on Saturday, September 15, at 10:30 am. A visitation will take place at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Peter the Apostle School, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE 19720.
