Jean Miklasiewicz, age 103, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Gilpin Hall Nursing Home surrounded by her family and friends.

Born Jean (Janina) Wedzikowski, she was one of 10 children of the late Boleslaw and Catherine Wedzikowski of the Browntown section of Wilmington, DE. She married her husband, Frank Miklasiewicz in 1946 and had two children, Frank (Michaels) and Linda Miklasiewicz (Williams).

Jean was a mother and homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking for her family, as there was always a cast iron pan on the stove ready for you, no matter what time you visited her. Jean had a full life with many happy memories at home in Browntown and at Woodland Beach, where there was always a lot of food and family.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1961; her son, Frank Michaels of Bear, DE in 2000; and her daughter, Linda Williams of Wilmington, DE in 2013.

She is survived by, her grandchildren, Frank Michaels, Jr and wife, Lisa of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Brett Michaels, and wife Cheryl of Red Lion, DE, Gregg Michaels and wife Jen of Delaware City, DE, Robert and Steven Williams of Wilmington, DE, Christi Falcioni and husband Tim of New Castle, DE, Aaron Michaels and Victoria Michaels of New Castle, DE; great-grandchildren, Richie and Jake Michaels, Brett, Jr. and Shaun Michaels, and Raven, Riley and Mason Michaels; great-great-granddaughter, Elaiyna; as well as daughter-in-law, Sharon Michaels.

Jean’s family wishes to thank other important people in Jean’s life including Rosie Bruton, the Leary family, Gail Tailor, the McGready family; and all of the wonderful nurses, techs, doctors and staff at Gilpin Hall nursing Home, who became Jean’s adopted family over the past several years. Thank you all so much.

A viewing will be offered on Sunday, November 4th at Krienen Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE from 4pm until 6pm. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Hedwig’s Church, 408 South Harrison Street, Wilmington DE at 10am on Monday, November 5, 2018. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington, DE
