Age 98-passed away on September 1, 2018 in Wilmington, Delaware.

She was born June 15, 1920 to Merwin O. and Escelyn C. Bader. A graduate of P.S. DuPont High School and the University of Delaware (1941), she received her master’s degree in social service from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 1944. During WWII she was a medical social worker with the American Red Cross, Services to the Armed Forces Hospital Service. After the war she was employed by the Veterans Administration for several years, and thereafter worked as a clinical social worker in various hospitals and agencies in NYC and elsewhere.

In 1985 she retired from Delaware Guidance Services for Children and Youth, then served on their Board of Directors from 1992-1997. She was a member of the Delaware State Foster Care Review Board from 1989 – 1997. Kathleen was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Peter where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of Delaware’s peace advocacy organization, Pacem in Terris. Kathleen was also a strong advocate for the protection of free speech from excessive commercial influence in her volunteer work with Message to the Media.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her brother, John Merwin Bader of Wilmington, DE. She is survived by the following nieces and nephews and their families, Mary Donley of Coatesville, PA; Eileen Williams of Bridgeport, CT; Matthew Bader of Newark, DE; and Andrew Bader of Philadelphia, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7th at 2pm at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Peter Cathedral School, 310 W. 6th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
