Laureen (Reen) Marie Valentine passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Christiana Hospital.
Laureen was born to Joan (McGovern) and the late William W. Valentine in Wilmington, DE on May 9, 1969. She was a member of the Class of 1983 of the Independence School, graduated from Christiana High School in 1987, and was a 1992 graduate of the University of Delaware. She was proud to celebrate 22 years of employment with WSFS Bank, spending much of her career assisting her many devoted customers at the Prices Corner Branch.
Reen was a proud and devoted aunt and loved spoiling her nephews, Anthony and Dominic. She was the chief planner of the annual summer vacation and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in the Outer Banks each year. Reen out-did herself taking care of her late father’s yard and flowers, she could always be seen tending the yard and decorating for each holiday. She enjoyed shopping with her mother, caring for her beloved cats, following Nascar and listening to Rascal Flatts, and of course sharing a night out with her close family and friends. Above all she loved getting together with her family for the holidays, or just for no reason at all.
Reen was preceded in death by her father, William W. Valentine; and her grandparents, Francis and Grace Valentine, and George and Cecilia McGovern.
She is survived by her beloved mother and best friend, Joan M. Valentine; her sister, Marsha (Valentine) Mazzola; the special men in her life, her nephews, Anthony (Leslie Windham) and Dominic Mazzola; and her beloved feline children, Goose and Grady. Reen is survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Service on Thursday, Oct.11 at 11:00 am at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19805. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery on Thursday following the Service.
