Suzanne M. (Marta) Pittaccio
Age 81, passed away from complications of dementia on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Kutz Home.
Sue was born in Wilmington, DE on October 10, 1936 and was the middle child of the late Dominick Marta and Hope Mary (Pacelli) Marta. She was a 1954 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School in Wilmington, DE, where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. Sue was a homemaker, and she loved working inside her home. Her passions were her husband, Pete, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved going to Wildwood, playing the slots, playing cards, bingo, miniature golf, bowling, and the holidays. Sue was very social and loved having her family and friends over. Her house was always open. She was known for having a big personality, no-nonsense, full of life and vigor.
Before having children, Sue worked for the DuPont Company at Chestnut Run. She held several part time jobs including Penichet Carpet.
In addition to her parents, Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Peter Pittaccio, her son, Dominick Pittaccio, her siblings, Antoinette (Marta) Brown, Dolores (Marta) Czerwinski, and John Marta. She is survived by her daughters, Gina (Pittaccio) DiMauro, Rita (Pittaccio) Lindell and Lisa Pittaccio, who was her caretaker; her granddaughter, Angela (DiMauro) Wilson, who was her other caretaker, Angela's husband Mike, her grandchildren, Christina (Lindell) Leeper, Crystal Pittaccio, Earle Ray Lindell and Mikey DiMauro; great-grandchildren, Brenden and Hunter Wilson, Mya DiMauro, and Ray Leeper; her sister, Joy (Marta) Kehnast.
Lisa and Angela would like to thank the staff at Lodge Lane, Wilmington, DE, for the amazing and loving care they extended to our mother and grandmother, Sue. Your efforts, both professional and empathetic, made being in your facility an easier time for our loved one. A special thank you to Mary, Sherry, Amanda, Elizabeth, Cindy, Jessica, Bernice, Melissa, Jackie, Moina, and Marie. She loved all of you.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 9th and duPont Streets, Wilmington, on Tuesday, August 28, at 11:00 am. A viewing will take place at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00-11:00. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, alongside her husband, Peter.
