Obituary for Madeline Bordonaro (Malatesta)

Madeline  Bordonaro (Malatesta)
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
Madeline was born on November 14, 1916, to the late Bartolomeo and Theresa Gioia Malatesta. Mal was raised on 12th Street in Wilmington surrounded by her large Italian Catholic family and many friends. As a young woman, Madeline worked at the Grand Laundry, Parkway Dry Cleaners, and at Brandywine Valley Caters.
Life has offered many joys and blessings, amongst them joining William (Bill) Winchester in Holy Matrimony in 1940. Widowed, she had the good fortune to meet Angelo (Mike) Bordonaro, whom she married in 1980. They shared a lovely life together until his passing in 2008.
Madeline enjoyed dancing, clamming, fishing, crocheting, sewing, entertaining, and above all having fun with family and friends. She showered all with her ever joyful love of life and is now resting in the rewards of heavenly peace.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Malatesta; and sisters, Kate McKenna, Anna Masci, Mary Wencl, Evelyn DiDiego, and Louise Scatasti. Left to cherish her memory are her 21 nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank Dr. O’Hara, the staff of Ingleside, and Season’s Hospice for their excellent care and support.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 9, from 9:30-11:00 am at Corpus Christi Church, 901 New Road, Wilmington, Delaware 19805, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Corpus Christi Parish, 905 New Road, Wilmington, Delaware 19805.
