Obituary for James Edward "Spike" Cannon

James Edward Cannon
“Spike”
Age 76, native of New Castle, resident of Dewey Beach, died Thursday, July 2, 2009.

Spike retired from All American Engineering Company. He was a member of Sussex Pines Golf Club, and St. Edmund’s Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army.

Spike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was dedicated to his Catholic faith and had a lifelong commitment to participating in the Celebration of the Mass. He was an avid reader, boater, and traveler.

Spike was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace L. and Marie Cannon of New Castle. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Weer); his children, Karen Marie and her husband Hal, Susan Lynn and her husband Ed, James E. Cannon Jr. and his wife Crissy; 2 brothers, Wallace and Jerome; 6 sisters, Jean, Marie “Sis”, Connie, Helen, Elaine and Crissy; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s R. C. Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle on Tuesday, July 7th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen Funeral Home, 34 West 6th St., New Castle, on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
