Obituary for John Cannon

John Cannon

Age 68 died peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital.

John worked for many years as a landscaper for the Greenewalt and Draper families.

John immigrated from Co. Donegal Ireland in the late 1960’s and has since resided in the Wilmington area. He was a member of the New Castle County Irish Society. He enjoyed spending time at the Delaware Park. He was also an avid fan of Gaelic Football and Boxing.

John’s family would like to thank Dr. Danesh, Dr. Tubb, Dr. Kim, and the entire staff at St. Francis Hospital and Compassionate Care Hospice.

He was the son of the late James and Annie (Doohan) Cannon. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Neylon; and his brother-in-law Fred Deely. He is also survived by his sisters, Madge Deely and Sadie O’Brien and her husband Patrick; brother-in-law Thomas J. Neylon; his niece, Kathy Durham; his nephews, James Deely, William, James, Thomas, and Michael Neylon.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R. C. Church, 901 New Rd., Elsmere on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Sunday evening July 11th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Entombment in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to St. Francis Hospital, 7th and Clayton Sts., Wilmington, DE 19805, or Compassionate Care Hospice, 702B Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.
