Obituary for Carole Anne Curtis (Kowalchuk)

Carole Anne Curtis
Age 74 of New Castle

Passed at home on February 7, 2017 surrounded by her family after her courageous battle with cancer.

Carole was born on December 18, 1942 in Chester, PA and was a graduate of Eddystone High School. She married her loving husband, John R. Curtis Jr., and together they lived in New Castle for 47 years. Carole taught CCD for many years, worked in banking and retired from the Chancery office of the Diocese of Wilmington after 20 years. She enjoyed spending the summer weekends in Sea Isle City, ocean cruises with husband and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Anna (Ishchuk) Kowalchuk, her sister, Patricia M. Miazga; and her first son, John R Curtis III, who was taken from this earth way too early at the age of 2, an event that would strengthen her love of family over the years.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 53 years, John R. Curtis Jr.; her sons, David A. Curtis of West Grove, PA, Matthew J. Curtis and his wife, Tory of Wilmington, DE; her niece, Lisa M. Santiago her husband, Albert of Williamstown, NJ; and her cherished grandchildren, Olivia Lane, Emma Grayce; Mia Sandra, Tyner John Curtis and Enrique and Antonio Santiago.

The family wishes to give a special Thank You to the unheralded staff of Delaware Hospice. They are the greatest treasure you hope you will never need.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, 12 Winder Rd, New Castle, DE 19720, on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11:00am . Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9:00am -10:30am. Interment will take place in Lawn Croft Cemetery, 1000 W Ridge Rd, Marcus Hook, PA 19061.
