Obituary for William Frank Proud Sr.

William Frank Proud, Sr.
Age 94 of New Castle

Bill passed away peacefully on December 11, 2016 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Ladyne and Dave Taylor.
He was the son of the late Frank T. and Frances (Thatcher) Proud. Bill was a graduate of William Penn High School. After graduation, Bill served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Pontiac. Once he returned home he began his career with the DuPont Company Chambers Works, where he was a dedicated employee for many years.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his two children, William F., Jr. in 1980, and Rebecca F. McGlynn in 2006; his sisters, Frances Taylor, Margaret Paladnietti, and his infant sister, Harriet; as well as his beloved and devoted grandmother, Maud C. Thatcher.
Bill will be dearly missed by his daughter, Ladyne Taylor and her husband, Dave; 7 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary E. Bowen, along with many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the burial at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701, on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Bill's name to the ALS Association, 1275 K Street NW, Suite 205, Washington, DC, 20005; A.I DuPont Children Hospital, 1600 Rockland Rd., Wilm., DE 19803; or Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711.
