Obituary for Gloria Moglioni (Stigliano)
Gloria (Stigliano) Moglioni
AGE: 91 • Wilmington
Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Gloria was born and raised in the Little Italy neighborhood in Wilmington. She was a 1943 graduate of Wilmington High School. She was a lifelong homemaker, and also worked at Colonial National Bank and the New Castle Presbytery. She was involved for many years at St. Thomas Church and also remained a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
She bowled for many years, loved to read, and was an avid card player. She especially enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for her family and baking Italian cookies with her granddaughters. The time she spent with her family and friends at Broadkill Beach and at the Jersey Shore was always the highlight of her summer.
Gloria was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Morano) Stigliano. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Rinaldo Moglioni, and her brother and sisters, Carmen Stigliano, Josephine Davolos, Dolly Davolos, and Gerry Panico. She is survived by her children, Renita Pearce (Bob), Tom Moglioni (Mary), and Mary Ann D'Amico (Chris); and her six granddaughters, who were the light of her life, Karen Riggs (Tom), Maureen Bartocci (Anthony), Megan Murphy (Billy), Maria Sandford (Tyler), Christina Sullivan (Scott), and Maura D'Amico. She was also blessed with 10 beautiful great grandchildren.
A viewing will take place on Thursday evening, May 25, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere. Relatives and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 26, at 11:00 am at St. Anthony R.C. Church, 9th and duPont Streets, Wilmington. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
