Obituary for Barbara Walker (McColgan)
Age 70 of Wilmington, DE
Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2016.
Barbara was born in Wilmington on August 26, 1945 to the late Daniel and Jane (Kane) McColgan.
She was a hair dresser at Park Lynn Hair Styling for 39 years and an owner for 16 years. Barbara was a former member of the Cavaliers Country Club where she greatly enjoyed golfing with her friends.
Barbara will be remembered most for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
She was preceded in death by her wonderful, loving companion Fred Giroud Sr.
Barabara will be dearly missed by her cousin and caregiver, Debbie Windish and her husband Bill; her cousins, Terry Lane and her husband, Larry, Elaine Hubbs Ward and Grace DiRocco as well as many other cousins. She is also survived by her brother, John McColgan, and her 3 nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Brackenville Center and Heartland Hospice House for their compassionate care of Barbara.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth R.C. Church, 809 S. Broom, St., Wilm., DE 19805, on Wednesday, Aug 3 at 10:00am. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on August 2 from 6:00 pm-8:00pm. Interment will take place in Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Barbara’s name to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Ln., Wilm., DE 19808, or the Brackenville Center, 100 St Claire Dr, Hockessin, DE 19707.
