Obituary for James Joseph "Jimmy" Pullan

James Joseph Pullan
77 of New Castle
Passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016.
Jimmy was born in New Castle to the late James J. and Catherine (Susi) Pullan Sr. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Peter’s High School. Jimmy retired as a Sergeant from Delaware Army National Guard after faithfully serving his country for 20 years.
Jimmy had a love of sports. He was fervent basketball, baseball, and football fan. However, Jimmy’s greatest passion was horse racing. He could talk for hours to anyone that would listen about all the details involved in the sport; who the jockeys were, what their win/loss record was, and even the horses they rode. Jimmy was especially excited each spring because that meant the Belmont Stakes, Preakness, and Kentucky Derby. He loved sharing his interests with others.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter and Philip Pullan, and his sister, Betty Davenport.
Jimmy will be dearly missed by his loving siblings, Rita Smith(Bob), Bernadette Pullan, Richard Pullan (Leslie), Joseph Pullan(Debby), Catherine Davis, Felecine Indellini (Lewis), Theresa Pullan, William Pullan, and David Pullan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mike; 13 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and nephews; 1 great great nephew; as well as many dear cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank Angel, Crystal, John, Seth and the rest of the dedicated staff at Millcroft Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care of their brother.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720, on Thursday, August 25 at 11:00. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 to 10:30. Interment will take place at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery the following morning August 26 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made in Jimmy’s name to Scared Heart Village, 920 N. Monroe St., Wilm., DE 19801.
