Obituary for Joan S. Shipe

Joan S. Shipe

Age 75, died February 22, 2010 at Brandywine Nursing Home.

Joan was a member of Holy Angels R. C. Church, and past board of director of Holy Angels Athletic Association for many years.

Joan was the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Hansen) Spencer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William; her brothers, Frederick, Arthur, Harold; and her sister, Florence. She is survived by her son, William and his wife Lynda of Newark; her brother, George Spencer and his wife Alice of Lakehurst, NJ; her grandsons, Steven and Bryan Shipe of Newark.

The family wish to thank the staff of Brandywine Nursing Home for their outstanding care given to Joan over the years.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Angels Church on Saturday, March 6th at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the church from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Interment at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.


In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Holy Angels Athletic Assn., 82 Possum Park Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
