Obituary for John F. C. Cooper

Age 72, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 22, 2015 in the Outer Banks, Kitty Hawk, NC.

John was a graduate of Conrad High School, Class of 1960. He retired from the Wilmington Fire Department as a lieutenant. He was also a volunteer firefighter at the Elsmere Fire Company for over 55 years, where he served as President. For his second career, he worked at A. H. Angerstein's for over 50 years.

He was a big fan of rock ‘n roll, especially Elvis, who married Barbara and him in 2001. He enjoyed playing cards at the fire house with his "Old Timers" buddies, supporting his children during their races, and was a season ticket holder for University of Delaware football games.

John was preceded in death by his son, John Andrew. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Scott Matthew Cooper, and his partner, Brett Wilkins; his daughter, Tami Cooper, and her fiancé John Barbour; his grandson, Michael Jonathan Morrow, and his girlfriend, Erika Windish; his sister-in-law, Connie Lou Peck; his nephew, Jeremy, and his wife, Janey Kramlik, and their children, Coralynn and Eleanor.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph Pennington and his staff for their years of dedicated care and friendship.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere, on Sunday, June 28, at 3:00 pm. A viewing will take place at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00-3:00 pm. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, June 30, at 11:00 am.
