Joseph “Andy” L. Andreavich

Age 76, of New Castle, passed away with his family by his side, from a prolonged illness at home on Monday, April 4th, 2011.

Born November 14, 1934 in Twin Rock, PA, Mr. Andreavich was the son of Laurence and Anastasia Andreavich. Although Joe was born in Pennsylvania, he spent most of his life in New Castle, DE. While most of his school years were spent at St. Peter’s Catholic School, Joseph graduated from William Penn High School and attended University of Delaware in the engineering program.

Joseph was a past member of the Masons and the Lions Club of New Castle. He also coached the Bank of Delaware Women’s Semi-Pro Softball teams and many New Castle Little League Girls Softball teams for fifteen plus years. At the time of his passing, Mr. Andreavich was a member of the Moose Club and member and past President of the Board of Health in New Castle. Joe also loved to fish and crab and enjoyed spending his summers at his beach house in Bethany Beach, Delaware.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, his mother, one brother, three brother-in-laws, and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years Barbara, and two daughters, Pam Andreavich, and Lori Cook and her husband Tom; and his two beloved grandchildren, Tommy and Morgan Cook. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Richard Hill Sr.; brothers-in-law, Ralph Hill, James Hill, and Richard Hill, Jr.; four sisters-in-law, Mary Shores, Sandy Hill, Rosemary Andreavich, and Barbara Hill; and many nieces and nephews, and loving and supportive friends.

Friends and family can call in the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, DuPont Hwy., New Castle on Saturday, April 9th from 10:00am - 11:00 am with a graveside service directly following.
