Obituary for Josephine C. Sharp (Conaway)
Josephine (Conaway) Sharp, age 101, passed away on February 25, 2018 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
Josephine was born on August 23, 1916 to the late Clarence and Mary (Golt) Conaway. At the age of 19, Josephine married Bayard John Sharp, Sr. who preceded her in death.
Josephine managed the women’s handbag department for over 25 years at John Wanamakers. Thereafter, she worked at local gift shops and lived out the rest of her life at the Antonian.
Josephine was a woman of faith. She belonged to Ebenezer United Methodist Church and enjoyed living a healthy lifestyle. She loved to travel and was baptized in the Jordan River when she vacationed to the Holy Land. Josephine treasured her time at the beach with her sisters, and her hobbies included cooking, baking and sewing.
Josephine is survived by her sister, Dorothy Fenimore; her son, John Bayard Sharp, Jr.; her grandchildren, John (Pam) and Christopher Sharp; her great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Wes) Gates, Meghan, Mary Kate, and Jessica Sharp; and her niece, Janet DeLuca.
Josephine will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 11:00 am to 12 noon at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere. The Service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday at 12 noon. Interment will be private in Silverbrook Cemetery.
