The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mary Croze can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Jeanette F. Dugan Huber

My husband Vern and I send our deepest sympathy to the Croze family. Mary was a lovely woman who was influential in my life. Knowing her as a relative (cousin) made me proud to be one of the Dugans from South Wilmington. She was the reason I attended Beacom College (Goldey-Beacom) following high school, because I knew it had been her choice; it was a decision I never regretted as what I learned there has served me well throughout my lifetime (77 years!). I had been in contact with Mary during my search for our ancestors (my husband and I are now Irish citizens, based on the Irish birth of my grandparents), but now I'm guessing Dugans and their various branches see one another only at funerals and family commemorations. Having moved from Delaware to Europe in 1986, I wondered as I addressed Christmas cards 2009 if she still lived at 214 S. Dupont Road and didn't learn until reading Mary's obituary that she had been ill for some time. Her late brother, Leo, sang for my wedding at St. Mary's in 1954, and that is where the funeral was held for my 91-year-old sister Gert last November. My sister Catherine who will be 90 this Oct. is in a nursing home; she and I are the last of our family of nine siblings. I have fond memories of Mary's parents, who passed on their friendliness and graciousness to her, as I am sure Mary has instilled those characteristics in her daughters. As a child, I welcomed being sent to Leo's grocery by my Mother because he always greeted me with a warm welcome aided by humor and a chuckle. Our son Ken, his wife and 2 daughters, live in Minneapolis. Vern and I have made our home in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland, and we would be pleased to hear from you or to see you if you are visiting Ireland. Jeanette F.
